2A. Cable Connection
Use the Sylvac data cable proximity to connect your Sylvac instrument directly to your computer. No Bluetooth or wireless connection is required. Here are the step-by-step instructions to connect a Sylvac Instrument with a Proximity Interface:
A. Prepare Your Equipment
- Sylvac Instrument.
- Sylvac Proximity-USB Cable (926-6721).
- Computer with Windows 10 or later operating system.
B. Connect the Proximity Cable to Your Instrument
Plug one end of the proximity interface cable into the appropriate port on your Sylvac instrument.
C. Connect the Proximity Interface to Your Computer
- USB Connection: If your proximity interface has a USB connector, plug it directly into a USB port on your computer.
- RS232 Connection: If your interface uses an RS232 connector, you'll need a USB-to-RS232 adapter. Connect the adapter to the RS232 port on the interface and then plug the USB end into your computer.
2B. Bluetooth Connection
Another way to connect your Sylvac instruments to your computer is by using the Sylvac Bluetooth USB Dongle. The Sylvac dongle connects your Sylvac instrument directly to your computer. Bluetooth® instrument transmission distance can vary based on environmental factors and control station configuration. To optimize distance and connection stability, follow these guidelines:
A. Prepare Your Equipment
- Sylvac Instrument with Bluetooth®
- Sylvac Bluetooth® USB Dongle
- Computer with Windows 10 or later operating system.
B. Connect the Bluetooth Dongle
Place the dongle on a USB cable extension. If using several dongles, every dongle must be separated by at least 15cm. The dongle should be hung at a minimum height of 1m50 from the ground.
C. Activate Bluetooth on Your Sylvac Instrument
Turn on Bluetooth: Press the Mode button until reaching the menu «bt». Then enter the menu by pressing the Set button, press it one more time to reach «On». Validate by pressing the Data button. The Bluetooth® radio is turned on. (Note: When in use, the face of the instrument should face the longer side of the dongle. Avoid metal walls between the dongle and the instruments).
3. Launch Vmux2
- Open the Vmux2 software on your computer.
- In the Home menu, you will find a list of your Sylvac Instruments. Vmux2 should automatically detect your connected instrument. Select the gauge and enable the "Button Send".

- Then click “Advanced settings; Choose "Keyboard Entry", if you want to do a line break.
Go to Data and specify which data you want to export (e.g., only values).
